Bravia Sync, Anynet+, HDMI-CEC
I see a lot of people asking/thinking that since they have a Sony TV they will get a Sony Blu-Ray player or Home Theater system because they will “work together” with Bravia Sync. Bravia Sync is just HDMI-CEC labled as Bravia Sync. The same goes for Samsung’s Anynet+. They are just branded that way so you would think like the way you did. HDMI-CEC is a standard so any device that is HDMI-CEC compatible will work together. If you want to know if they are HDMI-CEC compatible just find the manual online and search for HDMI-CEC. So the next time you are looking for some audio or video components, don’t automatically think that since it’s the same brand and they have that “connectivitiy” support that you should should stick with it.

Do you know how much compatibility there is? I would expect that there is some base level of compatibility, but then each vendor probably will not hesitate to add their own specific enhancements..my understanding is that the HDMI-CEC standard allows quite a bit of leeway. I have a Samsung TV and Blue-ray player, each with Anynet+, and while I would get a Samsung reciver, it comes with speakers that I don’t need. I am considering the Sony STR DG920 or the Onyko TX SR606, and one major factor will be how compatible the HDMI-CEC will be with my Samsung gear.
i just got a new samsung lcd tv with the anynet+ and i have panasonic home theatre system but cant connect them together with my hdmi cable. i have read both manuals several times and tried everything to get it to work but no go. if anyone knows how or if this can be done i would be very thankful for any insight. Thank you
